About Me.

I am a clinical psychologist with 17 years of experience dedicated to helping individuals navigate their emotional and mental health challenges. My approach is client-centered, allowing me to tailor my techniques to meet the unique needs of each person I work with. I often draw on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Solution-Focussed Therapy techniques within a person-centred framework. When working with adolescents, a systemic appraoch to understanding their difficulties is often helpful. Creating a safe space is essential for me, it enables individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings, feel supported, and become empowered to cope better or begin their healing journey. Through my professional- and personal journey I have come to apprectiate the complexities of life and the differences and similarities in experiences across our diverse backgrounds and cultural contexts. Together, we can foster growth in a compassionate environment.

Work Experience

I completed my internship at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town and my Community Service year at the South African National Defence Force (Saldanha Military Base).

After registering as a clinical psychologist I worked at a Student Counselling Centre in the Western Cape for 11 years. During this time I also had my part-time practice, where I worked with children, adolescents and adults. I was also affiliated to the ICAS and Careways Employee Wellness programs, where I offered support to staff from the relevant companies as well as their dependants.

In 2019 I relocated back to my hometown, Gqeberha, where I worked as a senior psychologist at another Student Counselling Centre.

I started my current private practice in Summerstrand, Gqeberha in 2023, and am still affiliated to a higher education instutition as a lecturer, where I am involved in teaching, research and supervision.

My continous involvement in the higher education sector enables me to stay updated in the field, and to align my therapeutic work with research in my field of interest.
